iPhone 6 explodes on pocket

Apple AAPL, -0.11%  unveiled the much-changed iPhone 6 on Tuesday at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino. Calif. — the eighth generation of the phone. It’s thinner, faster and has two larger screen sizes: 4.7 inches (iPhone 6) and 5.5 inches (iPhone 6 Plus) versus 4 inches for the iPhone 5S. They have a retina HD screen, better thumbing control, marginally longer battery life and an “ApplePay” mobile wallet that uses fingerprint recognition. The iPhone 6 starts at $199 on a two-year contract; the 6 Plus starts at $299.

Although more expensive, the iPhone 6 Plus will appeal to those people who have hungered for a larger Android-size phone to watch videos and play games, and don’t mind that they won’t be able to slip it into their jacket pocket, says Andrew Seybold, an independent consultant in wireless technology based in Santa Barbara, Calif. For young people who want to be seen to have the latest gadget, the bigger size will help to impress more than previous models. “Their peers will recognize that they’ve got the latest and greatest.”
